About This Project

Not very well-known, Ingres used to have most of his paintings based on daguerreotypes on which he painted above. His task was to paint the faces from A to Z. This astute trick was most time-saving – and therefore cost-saving – to him. His daguerreotype helper was of the name of Daniel Boone. One of his notes addressed to Ingres and dated 23 February 1844 was discovered recently and has been attached to this sketch.
